Our take

What Marquis actually is

Marquis builds in Tigard, Oregon. Family-owned since 1980. They’re not the biggest brand and they don’t market hard. Word of mouth carries them.

The DNA is jets. Specifically the Vector21 system. Mechanically aggressive, deep-tissue pressure, and the reason therapy buyers cross-shop them at all.

The Spirit is the entry to the Celebrity series. Smallest tub in the Marquis lineup. Five to six seats, mostly bought by couples and small families who use it daily.

If you’re buying for back pain, the Spirit gets you genuine therapy at a price that doesn’t match the Hot Spring sticker.

Vector21 vs everyone else

Vector21 is high pressure, deep penetration, multiple jet patterns per zone. The jets that show up on every Marquis higher-tier tub start here in the Spirit.

Compare to a Hot Spring Limelight at the same price. Limelight has Moto-Massage DX (one excellent track jet) and softer pressure across the rest. Different design intent. Limelight is for people who want to relax. Vector21 is for people whose backs hurt.

The trade-off is brand recognition. Marquis doesn’t ship the way Hot Spring does. Resale takes a 20 to 30 percent bigger haircut on the used market because nobody knows what they are.

Should you buy this tub

Buy it if: Your driver is therapy. Or you found a Marquis dealer with at least five years on the brand. Or you’re cost-conscious and don’t plan to sell.

Don’t buy it if: You’ll move in four years and need resale. Hot Spring Highlife crushes Marquis on the used market every time. Or your local Marquis dealer is new to the brand and has thin inventory.

On the fence? Wet-test a Spirit against a Limelight Pulse at two different dealers same week. Same temperature, same hour, same swim trunks. Vector21 jets either fix something for you or they don’t. Your shoulders will tell you in 90 seconds.

Setup is a real consideration. 240v hardwired, 50-amp dedicated breaker. Plan for $400 to $1,500 in electrician work depending on panel-to-tub run. Most local electricians can wire it without a brand-specific learning curve.

Score is 64. Vector21 jets are the best thing on this tub. Brand recognition and resale are what hold it back.

Best for / skip if

Best for: Therapy-focused buyers who want Vector21 jet pressure without paying Hot Spring brand premium.

Skip if: You need a strong dealer network in your region (Marquis is thinner outside core markets), or resale value is a priority (Marquis brand is lower-recognition).

FAQ

Does the Marquis Spas Spirit need a dedicated 240v circuit?

Yes. The Spirit is a 240v hardwired hot tub that requires a dedicated 50-amp GFCI breaker and a hardwire connection by a licensed electrician. Plan for $400–$2,000 in install costs depending on panel distance and local code.

Does the Marquis Spas Spirit include a cover?

Cover inclusion varies by retailer and bundle. Verify on the listing before you purchase — a third-party replacement runs $250–$500 if you have to buy one separately.

When does the Marquis Spas Spirit warranty start?

Warranty start dates vary by manufacturer policy on the Spirit. Most start on the delivery date, not install or fill. Save the original receipt and delivery confirmation — warranty disputes in this category often come down to documenting purchase date.
